PGP College of Agricultural Sciences (PGPCAS), Namakkal, established in 2013, is a premier institution dedicated to excellence in agricultural education and research. The college is approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu, affiliated with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, and recently accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), reflecting its commitment to maintaining high academic standards and quality in agricultural education.

PGPCAS is the visionary dream of our beloved Chairman, Dr. Palani G. Periasamy, M.A., M.A., Ph.D. (USA), founded with the objective of creating a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment where students acquire strong professional knowledge, uphold ethical values, and are encouraged to pursue higher education and research in agriculture. The institution was established with the approval of the Government of Tamil Nadu vide G.O. (Ms) No. 138, Agriculture (AU) Department, dated July 1, 2013, and affiliated to TNAU as per Proceedings No. E.1/1320/2012 dated July 8, 2013.

As the first agricultural college established in and around the Namakkal and Salem districts, PGPCAS serves as a vital academic hub for students and the farming community. The institution has emerged as a rapidly growing centre of high repute, imparting quality agricultural education aimed at the holistic development of students, empowering them with professional competence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of service to the nation.

Location

PGP College of Agricultural Sciences is located at Palani Nagar, Senthamangalam Block, Namakkal District, approximately 3 km east of Namakkal town. Namakkal is well known for its vibrant agricultural practices, poultry industry, educational institutions, and strong transport connectivity.

The college campus extends over 110 acres of fertile, arable land and is developed as a lush green campus that supports academic, research, and practical learning activities. The institution houses a dedicated four-storey academic complex with a built-up area of approximately 80,000 sq. ft., comprising spacious lecture halls, well-equipped laboratories, staff rooms, a central library, seminar halls, and a modern auditorium, providing an excellent learning environment for students and faculty.

Governing Council

The overall administration and academic functioning of the college are overseen by a Governing Council, constituted in accordance with the Acts and Statutes of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). The Governing Council ensures effective governance, policy formulation, academic excellence, and adherence to regulatory standards in all institutional activities.
