About Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs)

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) has established five Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) located at Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Hyderabad in Telangana, Gurgaon in Delhi/NCR, Bhubaneswar in Odisha and Shillong in Meghalaya. The Indian Institute of Public Health – Gandhinagar has been granted University status by a legislative act of Gujarat state in May 2015. The network of IIPHs at Delhi NCR, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar, are delivering seven full–time postgraduate programs, and numerous short-term, courses. Academic programs at IIPH Shillong will start soon. Each IIPH works closely with state governments and other public health organisations, to conduct research relevant to the home state and surrounding regions. They aim to make education and research activities relevant in content and context to all of India, while attaining standards which are qualitatively comparable with the best in the world. PHFI and its constituent IIPHs are engaged in trainings, program and policy-relevant research in public health, as well as imparting world-class education that is contextualized for the Indian setting. The academic programmes are a crucial channel of PHFI’s mandate, which is to address the worrying shortage of trained and qualified human resources. Our priority is to build a strong public health system across the length and breadth of India.
